5. Wrap up (continued)

Grixis Control

U Grixisu mě tentokrát nejvíce překvapilo, že Corey Burkhart ve své verzi, se kterou obsadil 19. místo na GP Vancouver, nehrál žádné Fatal Pushe. Jeho deck je tak velmi špatně situován na souboje s Death's Shadow. Snapcaster a Command toho sice zvládnou spoustu, ale proti tak velké porci discardu a dvojici bytostí, které se vysmívají Boltům a Kolaghan's Commandům, bych tuhle verzi Grixisu hrát nechtěl.

Trochu lepší mi přijde verze Rudyho Brikszy z SCG Open, ve které jsou dva Pushe a dva Mana Leaky.

A konečně tu máme ještě zajímavou verzi Asa Snydera, která je o něco agresivnější s kartami jako Inquisition of Kozilek, Mana Leak a Kalitas. Osobně mi Kalitas v Grixisu přijde hodně fajn, ale u téhle verze se mi úplně nezdá rozpolcenost mezi agresivními kartami (Bedlam Reveler, Vendilion Clique) a čistě kontrolnímy prvky (Cryptic Command, Damnation). Pokud bych měl vyzdvihnout jednu kartu, tak by to určitě byla Liliana, která je super se Snapcasterem a také je to jedna z nejlepších odpovědí na Lingering Souls.

Jeskai Control

Napříč všemi turnaji bylo možné spatřit čtyři Jeskaie, přičemž každý z nich byl naprosto odlišný od ostatních. Základ je vždy stejný - jednomanový removal, Serum Visions a Snapcaster Mage. Rozdíly jsou především ve winkondicích. Mohli jsme vidět klasický draw-n-go control s Cryptic Commandy a Revelací, Kiki-Jiki kombo, control s Nahiri a konečně i Saheeli kombo, které jsem minule zmiňoval coby zajímavé brew, které se teď ukázalo jako konkurenceschopné i na turnajích nejvyšší úrovně. Pozoruhodné také je, že pouze v jednom z decků byly Ancestral Vision - byla to verze s Nahiri, která ale hrála pouze dva kusy.

Stejný případ jako Infect - Dredge po banu Trolla všichni odepisovali, ale on z toho de facto spíše ještě více profitoval, jelikož se v sidech přestalo hrát tolik hatu. Bez Trolla má sice deck o něco pomalejší "goldfish", ale pořád mu zůstal Life from the Loam + Conflagrate, což je podle mě dost možná ten hlavní komponent, jenž stojí za úspěchem decku. U verze Lee Shi Tiana se mi ale vůbec nelíbí sideboard, raději než Brutalitu a Thoughtseize bych hrál playset nějakých disenchantů, protože nemít odpověď na Leyline of the Void mi přijde jako zásadní chyba (ačkoli bych jich teď očekával mnohem méně, než před banem).

Do třetice deck, který byl natolik silný, že musel být zkrocen banem. Narozdíl od předchozích mi ale přijde, že tady po banu je deck pouhým stínem původního. Sakura-Tribe Scout a Azusa prostě nejsou Sumer Bloom a dokonce mi přijde jako velké mínus, že dělají z jinak nepoužitelných kusů jako Lightning Bolt a Fatal Push dobré karty. Myslím si, že deck hraje už jenom hrstka hráčů, kterým původní přirostl tolik k srdci, že prostě nechtějí hrát nich jiného...

Naya Zoo

Zoo to má na modernu velmi těžké. V poslední době nevypadá špatně all-in varianta s Hidden Herbalisty, Burning-Tree Emissary a Reckless Bushwhackerem. Tu lze ale snadno porazit díky kartám jako Engineered Explosives, Chalice of the Void, nebo Anger of the Gods.

Já osobně bych více vsázel na verzi s trochu vyšší křivkou a Collected Company, kde je opravdu skvělý Renegade Railler, který trestá fair decky v kombianci s Voice of Resuregence.

V Austrálii měla úspěch i oldschool verze po vzoru Briana Kiblera (draci, planeswalkeři), ale osobně nevadím důvod, proč hrát Arlinn (když už, tak bych určtě hrát radší Elspeth) nebo Strombreath Dragona místo Company s Rallierem...

Merfolci stojí v podstatě úplně mimo metagame a hraje je jenom několik hráčů, jenž je většinou hrají v podstatě od úplných začátků modernu. Nevýhoda Merfolků je, že nedělají nic extra broken, ale zároveň zase mohou porazit naprosto cokoli a jsou snadno přizpůsobitelní na libovolnou metagame.

Jedním z takových Merfolk specialistů je i Jonathan Zaczek, který se s Merfolky dostal až do finále ve Vancouveru.

Tradiční Tron si určitě liboval při posledním banování, jelikož rychlejší kombodecky většinou byly nad jeho síly. Aktuálně nejlepší verze je zřejmě s černou, která decku přináší Collective Brutality a Fatal Push (verze z Brisbane je nehrála, což je podle mě chyba). A samozřejmě, že do decku si našel cestu i Walking Ballista, i když tady to není v playsetu, jako je tomu u Eldrazi verze.

V podstatě midrange deck, který plně využívá potenciálu Chodru of Calling a také má přístup ke kombům Kiki-Jiki + Restoration Angel a Nahiri + Emrakul. Výhoda je, že deck je snadno kustomizovatelný a hrát se v něm dá opravdu úplně všechno.

K vidění tu jsou dvě různé verze s černou a modrou. Osobně mám raději verzi s modrou, která má přístup ke kántrování, což je hlavně po sidu velice užitečné.

Jediným zajímavým constructed eventem na MTGO bylo tentokráte PPTQ, kterého se účastnilo 134 hráčů. Hrálo se osm kol, ve kterých 20 hráčů dosáhlo na skóre 6:2 a lépe.

Turnaj byl ve znamení nástupu 4C Saheeli decků, které se ukazovaly jakožto hlavní konkurenti Mardu Vehiclů, když právě za vítěznými Vehicly obsadily další tři místa.

Celá top20 vypadala následovně:

  • 3× 4C Saheeli
  • 5× GB Energy
  • 2× 4C Vehicles
  • 2× Saheeli Aetherworks
  • Jeskai Saheeli
  • GB Goodstuff

Vítězné Vehicly hrály playsety Pushů a trochu nezvykle i Walking Ballistu, který je skvělý právě proti Saheeli. Ustálila se také ideální verze 4C Saheeli a jako nejlepší verze BG se ukazuje hodně agresivní energy s kartami jako Longtusk Cub a Blossoming Defense.

Trochu inovace představuje RUG Tower, což je deck velmi podobný UR Toweru, ale splashuje zelenou pro lepší energy synergie.

7. God of Standard Challenger Finals #8

Finálový turnaj z pravidelné japonské série se tentokráte mohl pochlubit účastí 252 hráčů. To ale samozřejmě není ten hlavní důvod, proč se o tomhle turnaji zmiňuji. Tím je samozřejmě celá řada zajímavých decků v top16.

A můžeme hned začít deckem vítězným, což bylo Abzan Aggro Tomoya Saity. Deck měl klasický GB základ, ale byla v něm navíc bílá splash pro Gideona, Ajaniho a další sidovky. Tahle splash je samozřejmě možná zejména kvůli Oath of Nissa, který zároveň dodává decku potřebnou konzistenci.

V top8 se našly ještě dva velmi zajímavé decky. První byl Monoblack Midrange, se kterým skončil šestý Yukio Matsuda a druhý byl mix klasického Temur Marvelu se 4C Saheeli, který dovedl k sedmému místu Yukihiro Shimamura.

Další méně populární decky byly i v top16 - patnácté místo obsadilo GW Aggro a šestnácté bylo Jund Aggro, což bylo v podstatě BG Energy Aggro se splashí na Unlicensed Disintergation, Arlinn Kord a Olivii.

8. Duel Commander Nimes

Ve francouzském Nimes se hrál duel commander, na který přišlo 44 hráčů. V top8 tu bylo k vidění několik zajímavých decků včele s dvojicí Baralů, což je nejnovější přírůstek mezi tier1 generály.

Výše umístěný z této dvojice byl klasický draw-n-go kontrol a druhý byl zaměřený na Polymorph kombo.

Nejzajímavější deck skončil na druhém místě. Byl to čtyřbarevný Elfball se zajímavou dvojicí generálů Thrasios a Thymna.

Na turnaji všem doslova vypálil rybník Pierre Almaraz se Zurgem. Byla to verze s více bytostmi a vyšší manovou křivkou, která přitom podle mě není nijak extra dobrá...

Ve zbytku top8 poté byly čtyři čtyřbarevné goodstuffy s Vial Smasherem a Thrasiosem, Breyou, Brusem a Thrasiosem a konečně s Vial Smasherem a Brusem.

9. Bonusové decklisty (Legacy & Modern)

Závěr už pravidelně patří zajímavým decklistům, které se dobře umístily na větších turnajích.

Dnes začneme legačkou - první deck je legacy verze vintage decku White Eldrazi, se kterou obsadil čtvrté místo v brazilské legacy o 49 hráčích Marcos Morelli.

Druhý zajímavý legacy deck je Food Chain s Walking Ballisty, jenž zvítězil v Německu na turnaji se 63 hráči. Ballista je v decku celkem fajn - je to další způsob, jak zvítězit s nekonečnou manou, ale narozdíl od emrakula vám nebude překážet na ruce v úvodních kolech. Zároveň také nemusíte hrát karty jako Fierce Empath a Gurmag Angler.

Zbylé dva decky jsou modernové. První je zajímavý BUG Midrange s delirium tématikou a s toolboxem pro Traverse the Ulvenwald. V americkém Massachusetts s ním skončil osmý Dylan Murphy v konkurenci dalších 44 hráčů.

Na úplný závěr jsem si schoval opravdovou chuťovku. Možná jste už o tom někde četli, ale ve finsku se hrál modern s účastí 129 hráčů, kde triumfoval Leo Lahonen se Scapeshiftem, ve kterém hrál hned 150 karet!
