1. GP Brisbane (Modern)


První z dvojice modernových GP se konalo v Austrálii, což znamenalo trochu menší účast, než jsme zvyklí z amerických a evropských GP. Do prvního dne vstoupilo 966 hráčů, z čehož jich 285 postoupilo do druhého dne.

Bohužel, wizardi přestali v coverage zveřejňovat složení metagame, což mi přijde jako velká škoda. Po odtajnění výsledků z prvního dne ale bylo jasné, že metagame se rapidně změnila. Trojice neporažených hráčů po prvním dni hrála Dredge, zajímavý Esper Midrange s velkou porcí discardu a delve bytostmi a Cheerios (Puresteel Paladin) kombo.

Ve druhém dni pokračovala překvapivá krasojízda Dredge, který hráli členové MTG Card Mint včele s Lee Shi Tianem. Nakonec se kromě Leeho s Dredgem dostal do top8 ještě Novozélanďan Zen Takahashi, jenž byl ve čtyřech posledních australských GP třikrát v top8!

Zbylé decky v top8 byly Affinita, Lantern Control, BG Tron, WR Prison, Living End a Abzan Midrange.

Dredge nakonec na výhru nedosáhl, když Zena Takahashiho ve finále zastavil domácí matador Oliver Oks s Lantern Controlem. Kombinace Ensaring Bridge a maindeck Surgical Extrakcí, ke kterým po sidu ještě přibyde Grafdigger's Cage, je prostě na Dredge dobrá.

2. GP Vancouver (Modern)


V Kanadě už byla návstěvnost o dost lepší - mezi 1 548 hráči se našlo spoustu přílušníků světové špičky a dokonce i jeden český hráč, kterým byl Jiří Machulka, jemuž ale bohužel chyběla jedna výhra k postupu do druhého dne.

Do druhého dne prošlo 439 hráčů, v jejichž čele byli Gerry Thompson a Sam Black, kteří hráli překvapení víkendu, Death's Shadow Midrange. Deck měl velmi dobré výsledky na MTGO, tak se ho skupina pro hráčů rozhodla vyzkoušet a rozhodně je nezklamal. Další neporažené decky po prvním dni byly RG Scapeshift a dva klasické Jundy.

Ve druhém dni pokračovala spanilá jízda Death's Shadow, když se k Gerrymu Thompsonovi a Samu Blackovi v top8 připojil ještě Josh Utter-Leyton. Tuhle trojici v top8 čekaly souboje s Melira Company, Affinitou, Eldrazi & Taxes, Fritkou a Merfolky.

Nejblíže k prolomení dominance Death's Shadow byl Jonathon Zacsek, což je dlouholetý hráč Merfolků, který ale nakonec ve finále nestačil na Joshe Utter-Leytona. Ten čekal na dobrý výsledek před dva roky a dokonce mu hrozilo vypadnutí z PT cyklu.

Zajímavostí je, že na GP byly k vidění velmi zajímavé decky mezi výherci pátečních triálů. Bye získaly decky jako 4C Expertise Kombo, UB Faeries, Monogreen Devotion (poprvé v životě vidím, že někdo hraje Panglacial Wurma), Madcap Moon, GW Hexproof, nebo Esper Midrange, který s Fatal Pushem vypadá jako regulérní tier deck.

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn can't be countered. When you cast Emrakul, take an extra turn after this one. Flying, protection from colored spells, annihilator 6 When Emrakul is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.

Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre

When you cast Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, destroy target permanent. Annihilator 4 (Whenever this creature attacks, defending player sacrifices four permanents.) Ulamog is indestructible. 3. SCG Open Baltimore (Team Constructed)


StarcityGames si pro nás připravily divácky velmi atraktivní turnaj ve formátu Team Constructed. Na turnaji proti sobě hrály tříčlenné týmy, jejichž jednotliví členové hráli standard, modern a legacy. Byl to první týmový turnaj pořádaný SCG od září 2013, což byl ale team limited.

Týmové turnaje jsou mezi hráči velmi oblíbené, takže byli na turnaji k vidění i hráči, kteří se na SCG okruhu normálně nepohybují. Jeden z papírově nejsilnějších týmů byl například Ben Strak, Matt Nass a Sam Pardee. Další zajímavé tým byly například Brad Nelson, Jeff Hoogland a Brian Braun-Duin, Reid Duke, Gerard Fabiano a Andrew Boswell, nebo Tom Ross, Michael Majors a Todd Anderson.

Turnaj měl velmi přísný postupový klíč do druhého dne, když bylo v devíti kolech nutné dosáhnout minimálně na 21 bodů. To se z původních 308 týmů povedlo pouze čtyřiadvaceti.

Na druhou stranu bylo zase o dost jednodušší si udělat přesný obrázek o metagame ve druhém dni. Na standardu hrálo deset hráčů varianty BG decků, pět shodně Vehicly a 4C Saheeli a po jednom tu byl Jeskai Control, Esper Control, Abzan Midrange a zajímavé 4C Aetherworky s Ulamogem.

Modern byl mnohem rozmanitější, čtyři hráči hráli různé varianty Burnu, tři Death's Shadow, po dvou hráčích měli Bant Eldrazi, Grixis Control, Abzan Midrange a Eldrazi Tron. A zbylé decky byly Jeskai Nahiri, Naya Company, Affinita, RG Scapeshift, Revolt Zoo, Jeskai Control, WR Prison, RG Breach a Abzan Aggro.

Rozmanitá byla i legačka, které vévodily Miracly se čtyřmi hráči. Následoval 4C Delver se třemi hráči, Food Chain, BUG Delver, OmniTell a Burn se dvěma hráči a po jednom hráči měl BUG Control, Lands, Eldrazi, Elfové, Death and Taxes, Belcher, Sneak and Show, GB Depths a Tin Fins.

Mezi nejzajímavější decky patřil určitě BUG Delver s True-Name Nemesis a playsetem Fatal Pushů (většina ostatních hráčů Delvera hrála maximálně jeden či dva a často jenom v sidu), Fritka bez Swiftspearů a s one-of Bedlam Revelerem (přijde mi fajn, že tam je více karet, které jdou zahrát přes Chalice of the Void), a také Tin Fins s Confidanty a Mentory v sidu.

4. SCG Classic Baltimore (Standard, Modern & Legacy)

Týmový turnaj byl jednak zajímavý z pohledu coverage, ale kromě toho to také znamenalo hned tři různé klasiky. Nejvíce hráčů přišlo na modern - 259. Byla tu velmi rozmanitá metagame, kdy v top16 bylo čtrnáct různých decků! A překvapivý byl i deck celkového vítěze, kterým byl Joseph Blizzard, jenž hrál Jeskai Control s Kiki-Jiki/Restoration Angel kombem.

Ostatní decky v top16 byly: 2× Bant Eldrazi, 2× Kiki-Chord, Death's Shadow, Eldrazi Tron, Bant Spirits, Bring to Light Scapeshift, Affinity, Amulet Titan, Merfolk, Naya Burn, Elvish Evolution, Gifts Storma RG Scapeshift.

Standard a legačku hrálo shodně 175 hráčů. Dvojkovým šampionem se stal Jonathan Rosum se 4C Saheeli Aetherworky, který si poradil s top8 plnou BG decků, k čemuž mu jistě pomohl Elder-Deep Fiend v kombinaci s Kozilek's Returnem.

Celkově tu v top16 bylo hned osm BG decků, dále dvakrát Mardu Vehicly a po jednom Jund Vehicly, UR Control, BR Artifact Aggro, Jeskai Saheeli, GW Tokeni a samozřejmě vítězný 4C Saheeli Aetherworks.

Legačku opanoval Daniel Haberek s Eldrazi, což byl zároveň nejúspěšnější deck v top16, ještě spolu s Death and Taxes (oba decky tam byly třikrát). Zajímavé bylo, že všichni hráči Eldrazi hráli v mainu alespoň dvě Simian Spirit Guidy.

V top16 byly i dvě zajímavá brew, jenž obsadily čtvrté a páté místo. To úspěšnější z nich byl UR Control s True-Name Nemesis, Vendilion Clique, Snapcastery, ale třeba i se Senseikou, ke které tu byly miracly v podobě Temporal Mastery a Bonfiru (ten byl jenom v sidu).

Druhé brew bylo UW Tempo s kartami jako Judge's Familiar, Meddling Mage, Spell Queller, Thalia a Stoneforge Mystic.

Ve zbytku top16 jsme dále mohli vidět Sneak and Show, Shardless BUG, Miracly, 4C Delvera, BUG Control, Burn, OmniTell a Enchantresky.

Death's Shadow

I bez Gitaxian Proby má Death's Shadow k dispozici dvojici free cantripů (Street Wraith, Mishra's Bauble), které jsou ideální k získání vyšší konzistence a deliria pro Traverse the Ulvenwald.

Nový Death's Shadow už se nesoustředí na kombo kill s Become Immense a Temur Battle Ragem, ale tváří se spíše jako midrange. Na decku se mi líbí zejména sideboard plán s Lingering Souls a dále value kartami jako Renegade Rallier a Ranger of Eos. Někdo hraje i Ghor-Clan Rampagera, což je fajn one-of ke Traversu. A super mi v decku přijde i nová Lilča, jelikož většina decků není příliš připravená na bytosti tak velkých roměrů a jedna extra hrozba často znamená rozdíl mezi výhrou a prohrou. Nemluvě o tom, že Lili je fajn i s Lingering Soulami.

Zároveň si ale myslím, že velká část úspěchu decku jde na vrub nepřipravenosti soupeřů. Karty jako Lightning Bolt a Kolaghan's Command jsou proti Death's Shadow až žalostně špatné. Relic of Progenitus a Rest in Peace jsou proti němu také excelentní. Vůbec bych se tak nedivil, kdybyse v budoucnu v Jundu přestal hrál playset Boltů a naopak by se přešlo k playsetu Pushů.

Eldrazi Tron

Ještě donedávna mi tenhle deck přišel jako slabší verze obou decků, které kombinuje. Nyní se ale všechno změnilo díky Walking Ballistovi, který decku poskytuje potřebnou interakci v matchupech jako Infect, nebo Affinita. Plno hráčů kvůli němu dokonce zařadilo Basilisk Collar, což je podle mě jinak naprosto nehratelná karta.

Další payoff karta decku je Chalice of the Void, jenž dokáže sama o sobě zneškodnit celé decky...

Po vydání Fatal Pushe nejlepší "fair" deck na formátu. Největší hrozby jsou pro většinu decků velmi těžko zastavitelné, což je obrovské plus. V poslední době je nejpopulárnější verze s UW Talismanem a větším počtem Explozív v mainu.

Často se také v decku vyskyují zajímavé one-ofy jako Witnesska, Blessed Alliance, Dromoka's Command apod.

Abzan Midrange

Nejúspěšnější z klasických midrangů byl Abzan, což je způsobeno zejména vhodnou kombinací removalu - Path to Exlie a Fatal Push jsou v současnosti dva nejlepší removal spelly na formátu a Abrupt Decay je na tom pořád také velmi dobře.

Zajímavé je, jak odlišné je složení creature base v jednotlivých decích. Někdo hraje Grim Flayery, jiný zase Confidanty, ale k vidění je třeba i Siege Rhino, Voice of Resurgence, nebo Tasigur. Trochu škodolibě se tak Abzan někdy označuje jako "co dům dal".
